Position description

We have 2-3 fully funded PhD positions available and are looking for highly motivated (domestic/international) candidates to join our Assured Neuro-symbolic Reasoning project .

  • One PhD position in Planning Agent Subteam – Focus areas include:
      • Neuro-symbolic goal recognition
      • Neuro-symbolic path planning
      • Neuro-symbolic reinforcement learning
      • Differential partial equation modeling for dynamic systems using Neural PDE solvers
    • One PhD position in multi-modal (LLM/VLM) Agent Subteam – Focus areas include:
      • Neuro-symbolic multi-modal embodied AI agents
    • One PhD position in World-Model Subteam – Focus areas include:
      • Neuro-symbolic world modeling and reasoning
      • Formal explanation of neuro-symbolic systems

    Skills

    Ideal candidates should have a strong background in neural networks and preferably have experience in:

    • Symbolic planning
    • Differential equation modeling
    • Logic reasoning using Datalog, Problog, Linear Temporal Logic, ASP, etc.
    • Declarative logic programming
    • Causality or knowledge-graph based reasoning
    • LLM/VLM code-generating agent modelling

    Candidates with research experience, demonstrated through a thesis or publications in top-tier ML/AI/NLP/CV/Robotics conferences, will be highly favoured.

    Essential Skills:

    • An Honour/Master/PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
    • A background in deep learning for computer vision/speech processing/NLP.
    • Proficient programming skills and extensive experience working with one of the main deep Learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras).
    • Fluency in written and spoken English, with an ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience, both orally and written.
